
The factory is located in Ngariama Ward, Gichugu Sub-county, Kirinyaga, approximately 36 km from Kerugoya town, at an altitude of 1643 meters above sea level.
It is a state-owned corporation under the Kenyan Ministry of Agriculture, similar to Kipchabo Tea Factory, established to process green leaf from the Nyayo Tea Zones and local out-growers.
The facility focuses on the production of both CTC black tea and specialty teas, including orthodox and purple tea, aimed at diversifying products and adding value.
The factory has an annual capacity to process approximately 7 million kilograms of green leaf tea, with one line currently installed and another dedicated to specialty teas planned for commissioning.
The corporation focuses on environmental conservation through the creation of tea and tree buffer zones around gazetted forests, a core part of its mandate.
